The farmhouse home trend is everywhere thanks to Joanna Gaines. Fixer Upper had all of us slapping shiplap on every wall possible. White cabinets, gray walls, and black countertops ruled my Instagram feed. Galvanized metal, rustic wood accents, and chippy paint have swept the nation. I have to admit, I love it. I love the cozy feel it brings to a home. Incorporating old with new is something I believe is timeless. With that being said, after months and months of obsessing over how I wanted to design my new house, I realized that I was actually ready for something different. Do I still want a home that feels inviting and cozy; a place where people want to stay a while? Yes. That is exactly what I want.
Enter french country style. It is very similar to the farmhouse style, though in my eyes, it is more inviting because it leans towards warm, soft color palettes instead of bright whites. The french country style also incorporates the little bit of glam I am looking for. Exposed beams and pretty chandeliers? Sign me up!
One way to incorporate french country style in your home is by adding new light fixtures. Chandeliers, sconces, and lamps are a way to bring a french flair to life.
I know what y’all are thinking. Parquet floor? Really? Let me tell you….YES YES YES!!!!! These floors can change the feel of any room! I am definitely adding these floors in my new house. They will make a statement! Home decor trade shows are stating that this is going to be a huge trend in 2018!
Warm kitchen cabinets
Remember me saying that I wanted something different? These cabinets are a perfect example. I was set on having white shaker cabinets, but after much research, there is something about these warm cabinets that speak to my soul!
There is nothing that brings a french country feel like stone flooring. It brings texture to a room; bringing the natural material indoors. Limestone flooring is a great option for a beautiful yet rustic french country design.

Not ready to commit to cabinet or flooring changes? Not a problem! A french country design can still be incorporated into your home with use of furniture! Natural linens and rustic wood are two great materials to achieve the look.
There ya go- my french country design inspiration. I can not wait until I am able to write about a post about how I incorporated this design into my home! Until then I will continue to drool over these gorgeous photos!
